Our
Delicious Haitian
Coffee :
This
coffee is not run
of the mill fundraiser
coffee; it’s
gourmet
quality, rare and
exotic.
Moreover, this coffee
is natural, shade
grown and traded
fairly.
We
chose Haitian coffee
deliberately:
Haitians were once
the world’s
best coffee exporter,
producing an excellent
bean - which is STILL
the case. The country
is one of the world’s
poorest, and why
not support their
economy [through
coffee buying and
other projects].
Great beans + need
some help = obvious
solution.
We
partner
with Fair Traders
who also believe
sharing makes the
world a better place.
We support Haitian
farmers; we buy beans
directly from grower
co-ops and even roast
in a fair trade co-op.
About
our Coffee :
Our Haitian Mountain
Bleu coffee comes
from the same type
of coffee plant &
is grown in a similar
region as the wildly
successful Jamaican
Blue bean - but at
a fraction of the
price. In Miami,
Jamaican blue sells
for as much as $49
a pound. Our Haitian
coffee retails for
less than $12 a pound.
Our
coffee is from a
single origin and
is natural; natural
crops mean a better
coffee, a better
environment. Put
simply, Haitian farmers
can’t afford
chemicals; they use
natural and organic
methods like composting
and shade-grown farming
techniques. Haitian
bleu coffee growers
hand pick coffee
cherries; wet processing
techniques yield
a unique blue-green
colored bean.
Our
RARE Haitian Mountain
Blue roast is rich,
nutty & SMOOTH;
cool nights at high
altitudes produce
gentle & FLAVORFUL
coffees!
Air
Roasting Makes it
Better :
We ship these BEAUTIFUL,
raw beans from Haiti
to the U.S. for roasting;
we roast in small
batches in an air-roaster
to cultivate the
natural nuances of
the beans to a medium
dark roast. Unlike
traditional drum
roasting, air-roasting
does not add smoke
and flame to the
roast. This allows
for a clean cup and
yields FRESH and
EXCELLENT tasting
coffee that is perfectly
balanced in body
and acidity.
