Our
Story :
At
heart and soul, we
are volunteers. Our
favorite axiom? Go
big or go home. [On
some days, it’s
the dog/hydrant one].
We
began our adventures
in coffee by using
it as a way to raise
funds for Haiti for
economic development
projects. We were
so successful that
we created a nonprofit
called Singing
Rooster.org
[we sell Haitian
coffee to raise money
for Haiti].
Then,
as life would
have it, our
family was
thrown a curve
ball that came
hard and fast.
Two
nephews were
diagnosed with
Cystic Fibrosis,
which inspired
us to reach
out in a second
[third/fourth]
direction.
Blessed
with Norwegian
pragmatism,
we thought:
We have great
tasting and
incredibly
RARE coffee.
People drink
coffee by the
millions of
gallons each
year.
Let’s
use it to raise
awareness and
money to help
find the cure
for Cystic
Fibrosis or
whatever else
needs fixing.

Details
:
Java
for the Cure.org
is organized and
operated by Molly
Nicaise with the
support of her darling
family. It is, technically,
an offshoot of SingingRooster.org
[we simply didn’t
have the energy or
time to create another
nonprofit; the paperwork
is daunting, and
we’re still
completing it for
the Rooster].
A
hefty $5.50 of every
bag of coffee sold
helps people:
$2.50
goes back to Haiti
to support Haitian
coffee farmers, coops
and economic development
projects.
$3
helps the fundraising
charity.
The
remaining $3.50 goes
towards import/export
costs, roasting &
coffee bags, shipping,
marketing, and if
there’s anything
leftover, to Molly
[so that she can
quit her day job
and focus exclusively
on helping others].
Her promise to you
[and documented publicly]
is that she’ll
never be a nonprofit
leader with a 6-figure
salary. Nobody needs
that much money.
